how to use

ingredient spotlight: prebiotics

Prebiotics serve as a food source for beneficial microorganisms in the gut and skin, such as bacteria and fungi. Unlike probiotics, which are live bacteria that confer health benefits when consumed, prebiotics are not alive. Instead, they provide the necessary nutrients for the growth and activity of beneficial microorganisms.

The two prebiotics we use in our products are inulin and alpha-glucan oligosaccharide. These are prebiotic sugars extracted from chicory roots. These sugars promote the growth and activity of beneficial bacteria, which can contribute to a healthy skin microbiome.

The prebiotics used in the jellies were clinically tested in baby care products. They have been shown to reduce redness and diaper rashes.

microbiome-friendly

The jelly-to-milk cleansers are more microbiome-friendly than conventional face and body washes because the oil-based formulas cleanse the skin without drying it. It replenishes the skin with omega-rich oils and prebiotics. Prebiotics are food for the beneficial bacteria on the skin that contribute to a healthy skin microbiome.

A healthy skin microbiome improves skin barrier function, reduces inflammation, enhances hydration, and prevents oxidative stress on the skin.

founder's story

Shelly wanted to uncover the root cause of her son's eczema and find long-term solutions for his senstive skin. Along with diet and lifestyle changes, she learned that making skincare products that support the skin microbiome helped her son achieve lasting relief.

Eight years later, when Shelly had her last baby, she was determined to help her avoid eczema and other sensitive skin ailments. Again, the solution was using microbiome-friendly skincare. Developing a heathy skin microbiome from the start would help her develop resilient skin for years to come.

Shelly formulates with a mother's care and a chemical engineer's expertise. All Kiss Kiss Goodnight products use a combination of plant-based ingredients that families around the world have trusted for generations and innovative, science-backed ingredients.

FAQs

Are the jellies tear-free?

The jellies will not sting the eyes. The jellies are so gentle and nourishing that your little ones can massage it on their face and wipe it off with a damp cloth—no need to rinse with water.

Can the jellies be used as a shampoo/conditioner?

You can use the jellies on your hair. However, since the jellies are oil-based, they may leave a slight oily residue on the hair, which may be difficult to rinse. If you use the jellies on your hair, rinse well with running water.

What is the difference between the Lullaby Melting Balm Cleanser and Prebiotic Bath Jellies?

The Lullaby cleanser and jellies are suds-free, oil-based cleansers that transform into milky cleansers in water. The Lullaby cleanser was formulated for babies under one year old in mind.  The jellies are more interactive, and toddlers will enjoy applying them to their skin and watching the bright-colored jelly transform into a white milky cleanser.

Can you use the jellies as a leave-on moisturizer?

The jellies contain oils and prebiotics that are great for the skin. The jellies are sticky as a stand-alone, leave-on product.  Mix them with water or your favorite lotion/oil and apply it to your skin for extra moisturization.

Can jellies be used on sensitive and eczema-prone skin?

Our jellies are safe on sensitive and eczema-prone skin. They clean the skin without drying it.
